Terms of Use

Before anything else

Please consult a doctor or healthcare professional before beginning any training.

Running carries a risk of injury. Coach b builds training from what you tell us and what you run. He is not a doctor, he is not a physiotherapist, and nothing in the app is medical advice or a diagnosis.

He may tell you to see someone qualified when what you describe warrants it, and he may give you crisis resources if something you say suggests you need them. He is not a substitute for either.

You know things about your body that we do not. If a workout does not feel right, do not do it. If something hurts, stop and see someone qualified. A plan is a suggestion. You decide what you run.

Who we are, and what these terms are

These are the terms between you and Coach b Athletics LLC, an Oregon limited liability company, covering the Coach b app and the coachbrunclub.com website.

By creating an account you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not create one.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with your information, and it forms part of your agreement with us.

Who can use Coach b

You must be 18 or over. We ask your age when you set up your account, and an answer under 18 stops the account. An account we stop is never coached and is deleted.

Coach b is not offered in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. By using it you confirm you are not accessing it from there.

One runner per account. Coach b coaches the person whose account it is. You cannot set up an account to coach someone else, including a family member. Everything the coach does assumes the person he is talking to is the person running.

What Coach b is

A running coach. He builds a plan from your goals, your history and what you tell him, adapts it as you run, and talks to you about it.

Your plan is built by a coaching engine, which follows fixed rules. When Coach b talks to you, his words are written by an AI model. No person reviews either before you see it. Use your judgment. Coach b can make mistakes.

What he is not. Not a medical service, not a diagnostic tool, and not a substitute for a doctor, a physiotherapist, or a coach who can watch you run.

Your account

Keep it to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Do not share it, and tell us at privacy@coachbrunclub.com if you think someone else has access.

Give us accurate information. The coaching is built from what you tell us, so wrong information produces a worse plan. That matters more here than it does in most apps.

Beta

While Coach b is in beta, access is given at no cost and nothing is charged.

Beta software has rough edges. Things will break, features will change, and some of what you see will be replaced. If we need to reset or migrate data during beta we will tell you first.

Subscriptions and payment, when Coach b is paid

Subscriptions are bought through the App Store. The price and the available terms are shown to you before you subscribe.

Apple handles billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds under Apple's own terms, and you manage your subscription in your Apple settings. We never see or store your card details.

Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. Cancelling stops the next renewal, and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

We do not refund time already paid for, and we have no refund process of our own. Apple decides refunds under its own policy and may grant them regardless of anything we say.

If the price changes, Apple will tell you and ask you to agree before it takes effect.

Using it properly

Do not use Coach b for anyone other than yourself, or resell, redistribute or republish what we generate for you. Do not try to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, or access it by automated means. Do not use it to build a competing product or to train another model on its output. Do not upload anything unlawful or anything you do not have the right to share.

We may suspend or close an account that does these things.

What you write, and what Coach b generates

What you write stays yours. Your journal entries, your messages and everything you tell Coach b belong to you.

You give us permission to use them to run the service: to store them, process them, and send them to the providers listed in our Privacy Policy so the coach can do his job. That permission exists so we can coach you, and for nothing else.

The plans and messages Coach b generates are yours to use for your own training. They are not yours to sell or republish.

Connecting other services

You can connect Strava and Apple Health. When you do, you authorise us to receive your data from them, and their terms and their privacy policies govern what they do with it.

We only ever read from Apple Health. We never write to it, and we will not read anything unless your health-data permission with us is current.

You can disconnect either at any time.

The service will change

We add things, remove things, and change how things work. If we make a significant change that materially reduces what you are paying for, we will tell you and you can cancel.

We do not promise the app is always available. Things break, providers go down, and we get it back.

Disclaimers

The service is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not warrant that Coach b's plans, workouts or advice are correct, complete or suitable for you. They are generated automatically, from limited information, about a person we cannot see.

You take part in physical activity at your own risk. By using Coach b you accept that risk, and you agree that decisions about what you run are yours.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or personal injury arising out of your use of the service.

Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose. If you have paid us nothing, including during beta, that amount is nothing.

Some places do not allow some of these limitations. Where that is so, these limits apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Indemnity

If your use of the service, or your breach of these terms, causes a claim against us, you agree to cover us for it, including reasonable legal costs.

Ending it

You can stop at any time by deleting your account in the app.

Deleting your account does not cancel your Apple subscription. Only you can do that, in your Apple settings. If you delete your account and leave the subscription running, Apple will keep charging you.

We can suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if we are required to, or if we stop offering the service. If we close your account because we are stopping the service, we will ask Apple to refund the unused part of what you have paid.

Deleting your account deletes your data, as described in the Privacy Policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Oregon, and you and we agree to that jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer somewhere with mandatory local protections, nothing here takes away rights the law gives you.

Changes to these terms

We will change the date at the top, and for significant changes we will tell you in the app and ask you to accept them before they take effect.

If part of this does not hold

If any part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.

The whole agreement

These terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the service, and they replace anything said beforehand.
